Windows galore

We got new windows! from Gorell! Triple-paned!

Eight on the first floor (in the dining room, parlour, living room) and four in the new bathrooms upstairs. When my permit inspector came for the pre-inspection, he put up a fuss about having windows so low (the bottoms of a few of the windows are within ~a foot of the floor) in the new bathrooms. He almost insisted that they'd have to be taken out altogether, but I love love love windows in bathrooms (who doesn't love looking out a windows while sitting on the john?) and I wasn't having it. So he looked into it and found out that as long as any window sash below 60" had tempered glass, we'd be OK. Hence, we ordered four more windows for the bathrooms.

The windows we had were old. Probably original to the house. You can barely see out of them with all the grime and wavy panes, and the ones in the dining room had huge cracks in them with tape.

You open them by pulling up a tab on the side, and while holding the tab up, yanking the window up. Then you need a piece of wood or something to prop the window up.

~*New*~ windows:

They have a slight greenish tint from the low-e, which is an insulating coating on the three panes and fairly typical, apparently. I got used to it pretty quickly. They open easily, too, of course. For the windows and installation, it cost us 525$/1st floor window, 550$/tempered upstairs big window, and 485$/tempered upstairs small window. Not too bad, I think.
And now that I can see clearly outside my window, I can see such views as these:
