Today our carpenter Dan (not my husband) opened up our two dining room doorways by about 6 inches to the side and 3 inches up.
We wanted to go as wide as we could, but were limited by our super wide trim, which we want to recycle again. Still, it makes a big difference; gotta give credit where it's due - this was all Dan's (not the carpenter) idea.

I love it. It really makes our place a lot more open.
Here's a diagram Dan (not the carpenter) drew to help you get a sense of the layout:
Next week, Home Depot is coming to install a *new* storm door . It's double paned and has a top to bottom window. Kitties will be able to look out the front door now! (Right now they look out the dirty, almost opaque side-lights.) Hurray for improvements we don't have to do ourselves!
so amazing what a little extra light can do... it's like a small-scale version of this! http://www.younghouselove.com/2011/11/our-grand-opening/
ReplyDeleteand thank dan for the floor plan diagram. it's nice to be able to picture how exactly all your adventures are going down :)
