WELL. We've been pretty happy with our progress in the dining room, so far. But earlier this week we got a letter from our home insurance provider warning us that they're gonna cancel our insurance in two weeks because the inspector found a bunch of issues.
If insurance is canceled, I'm pretty sure our mortgage...is in trouble. Then no house. The issues they found involve the crumbling chimney, curling shingles over our skylight (yeah, crazy, I know), broken glass in the garage, and an overhanging tree. Our priorities have shifted away from the dining room and now have focused on fixing these issues.
A guy who lives down the street, Norm, (nice guy who never has a shirt
on and knows everything about plants and gardening and has a crazy,
makeshift, everything-in-it-is-recycled-from-other-houses-he's-worked-on
yard) agreed to fix our chimney problem (by taking it out) for 200$. This
morning he took out all the bricks and tomorrow he'll patch up the roof.

crumbling unused chimney. We always knew it was an issue... |
When he was finished this afternoon, there was a mess of bricks (he just chucked them over the side of the house) beside our bagsters, so I decided to put a nice little brick border around a little patch of dirt.

Dan up on the roof inspecting the hole. He also HATES with a livid passion our porch door. |
So now I have ANOTHER dirt patch that I want (have) to fill with flowers. Any suggestions? I kind of want to take out that bush and move it to the front of the house or something. This side of the house gets TONS of sunlight because it's dead-on south facing.
Ayumi, you've truly out-done yourself. Stunning. The best.
ReplyDeleteda best. that is one good-looking piece of dirt now.
